Gastroricote, days dedicated to the eel in Murcia
Last 16th of November, in a well known restaurant called Ricote, in Murcia, opened a gastronomic course aimed to promote eel dishes. In restaurant Casa Rocher, we are specialize in this type of cuisine and we wanted to support the conference organizers attending the course.
Under the name of Gastroricote: Taste of the town, is intended to promote the cuisine of the Valle de Ricote cooked at a promotional style, rich and varied cuisine with all kinds of vitamins. The inauguration was attended by the media that wanted to echo this initiative, plus a large number of assistants who do not want to miss this exquisite menu.
At Casa Rocher we know cuisine is something not to be missed at any time, quality and design do not have to be at odds with the tradition, therefore, in our menu you can find recipes that cooked previous generations over the history of the restaurant.
Paco Rocher was in Murcia teaching about a eel course
On October 28, our chef and a manager of the restaurant Casa Rocher moved to the town of Ricote, in Murcia to teach on a course of eel.
At Casa Rocher we are specialize in dishes made with this typical product of Valencia, so the restaurant El Sordo, a town in the region of Murcia, wanted to have our presence where we could show how to prepare this delicious dish.
This course is conducted as a conference prior to the gastronomic days which will take place in the restaurant, with the help of Valle de Ricote Inagotable company, which aims to promote local cuisine, prepared at the old way. The theme of this conference is “Gastroricote: Taste of the town people.”
From the restaurant Casa Rocher we want to congratulate those responsible for the promotion of this initiative and to those who enhanced this product which disappeared from the Segura river decades ago.
Casa Rocher Restaurant opens its doors this weekend after a short break
After a well deserved vacation, Casa Rocher restaurant opens again next 5th of November with recharged batteries. This weekend you can taste our specialties cooked again with eel, the variety of rice that our extensive menu has and many more surprises.
During the holidays we have had time to plan our next gastronomic events, a conference that will be missed and of which I’ll discuss later.
We look forward to have you all here during this new season and remind you that if you visit Cullera we are there for whatever you need. In addition, we will continue with our sightseeing recommendations, as our restautant is close to numerous places to visit, some very touristic and other more obscure but not less beautiful.

Presentation of the new guide of the International Rice Community of the Valencia Community
Last Monday, the new guide of the International Rice Community of the Valencian Community was showed.The presentation event took place in the Hotel Las Arenas in Valencia.
The aim of thus guide is to make client know more about the restaurant the association. A young adminisration which brought new wind and a new concep to understand the situation.

Rocher House supports The 1º Charity Hiker Walk of Valencia ‘One step for a child’
In Restaurant Casa Rocher we support the 1º Charity Hiker Walk to be held in Valencia next Saturday 23rd of October and we are working in the organization.
Under the name of ‘One step for a child’, with this hiker walk we are trying to rais funds to help children from on an orphanage in Niono, Mali. Children who need food, books and other items to make life at least decent.
“One step for a child” ‘is conducting a 32 kilometers hiking route from Pinedo to Cullera, through the sand.
We want to encourage all those who want to help these children to participate with us in this walk or simply to make their contribution in the account number found in the website www.unpasitoporunniño.com . To make the route you need to register and make a deposit of 15 euros which includes lunch, food, drink and return by bus.

Casa Rocher closed for holidays until the 5th of November
Until the 5th of November, the restaurant Casa Rocher from the Mareny of Sant Llorenç, will be closed for holidays. After the summer months, the staff of the restaurant deserves a few days off to enjoy from now on.
We want to thank all those guests and friends that every day have shown us that our work is worthwhile. Thanks to you, we go on holidays more than satisfied and we hope to see you again on our return.
In November, in the restaurant Casa Rocher, will return with renewed energy and new ideas. You will be able to taste new dishes and specialties prepared by our chef Paco Rocher, as well as gastronomic events and many more developments that we will tell you about.

As many of you know, the restaurant Casa Rocher at tge Mareny de Sant Llorenç, Cullera, we are committed to the goal that began 50 years ago with our parents: to offer Valencian cuisine and make every effort so that our guests are satisfied.
We specialize in all kind of rices and dishes made with eel, like all i pebre or baked eel. Many times we add these two ingredients in the same plate and find the perfect fusion. Rice with eel is one of the dishes which most likes to our guests and we are proud that this Valencian fusion succeeds.
We would like to appeal to all the Valencian people to transmit to the whole world the benefits of Mediterranean cuisine and, above all, of the Valencian orchard products.
Yesterday was held in El Palmar the First Traditional Contest D’all i pebre and Paco Rocher was juror
Yesterday was held in El Palmar the First Traditional Contest D’all i pebre. During the day there gathered a large number of people willing to give everything for this traditional dish, either as contestants or the public.
The organizer of this event was the Hospitality Association of El Palmar and had the cooperation of many Valencian companies. The purpose of this meeting was to make this dish to be known among the young people of Valencia.
In the restaurant Casa Rocher we are specialized in all kinds of rices and, especially in dishes made with eel, like all i pebre. Therefore, one of the jurors in this first edition of the contest of the traditional pebre was Paco Rocher who could vouch for the quality of the Valencian chefs.
In the contest competed 23 restaurants for the hamlet and another 6 guested. In addition, a large number of attendees of all ages came to Plaza de la Sequiota to enjoy this delicious dish cooked like the most traditional Valencian style, with wood fire.
Bioparc and La Albufera get together to organize school trips
Valencia is a city with many places to visit and, especially, with many secrets to discover. In the Casa Rocher restaurant, we already recommend last week to visit the Albufera, a natural park where you can watch Valencia’s wildlife, this week we go further and join to the Bioparc.
This time, we will talk about trips for the small ones of the house, as at the Albufera and the Bioparc they will find a place to dream, have fun and, above all, learn. “Journey to the wetlands ” is a proposal which aims to discover the importance of the natural park of Valencia and gets to know the routes of migratory birds.
Coinciding with the centenary of the Albufera donation to the city, Valencia Biparc launched this activity called “Journey to the wetlands” so that children know the importance of this natural park in terms of migration of birds between Europe and Africa.
From restaurant Casa Rocher we want to thank you the proponents of this initiative for the importance they give to the lagoon and the great effort made for the children to know about Valencia’s fauna and its ecosystem.

Casa Rocher recommends to visit the Albufera Natural Park
Autumn is coming, and however much we try hard to stretch the beach time, we must accept that it is over. But there are other alternatives, such as visiting the Albufera Natural Park of Valencia.
In the lagoon you can see Valencia’s flora and fauna, in addition you can visiting the “barraca” museum. It is certainly a must for visitors of Turia’s city.

Paco Rocher awarded as Paellero of Honor at the 50th International Competition Paella Valenciana Sueca 2010
Last 12th of September was a historic day for many restaurants and chefs gathered at the 50th Anniversary of the International Competition Paella Valenciana Sueca 2010.
Sueca was fortunate to be visited by over 20,000 people which enjoyed the show with the participation of 51 contestants from different worldwide rice restaurants, highlighting Japan and the U.S.A.
Among those attending we could not miss it, as Paco Rocher attended on behalf of the restaurant Casa Rocher and as Vice President of the International Brotherhood of Rice. Casa Rocher received the Award of Honour of Paellero Sueca 2010.
In addition, there were other members of the Brotherhood of Rice with restaurants such as Da Pino Restaurant in Seville or Casa Granero, among others.
We also enjoyed the presence of its chairman, Ximo Sáez, who served as jurors.
The restaurant Els Porxets of Sueca took the first prize in the International Competition of Paellas of Sueca, which celebrated its golden anniversary. Juan José Sando and his assistant Sergio Clement, ensured that the trophy stayed home after many years.

Next Saturday the Bahia de los Naranjos Trophy will take place in Cullera
Next Saturday 4th of September, at the Club Nautico of Cullera the 40th edition of the Bahia de los Naranjos Trophy will be held.
This test will score in the Autonomous Region Cruise Championship of Valencia for boats with a certificate of RI. The trophy of the championship will be a beach ship of the beach and from Casa Rocher Restaurant we want to wish good luck to all participants.
Each of them must travel 12 nautic miles to reach the goal, like a triangle that will travel from North to South Bay of Los Naranjos.
The most emblematic units will meet at the yacht club during the weekend.
Properties and benefits of the eel
In the restaurant Casa Rocher we are specialize in all types of rice and dishes made with eel. Therefore, we want to tell the properties and benefits of this type of fish.
The eel is a rich in vitamin D and 100 g. of it contains 20 g. of vitamin D. It also contains vitamin A (980 micrograms per 100 grams).
This fish has a many vitamin A thus it prevents eye diseases, strengthens the immune system and has anticancer properties, as well as it promotes good skin and mucous membranes.
On the other hand, large amount of vitamin D causes the consumption of fish to be recommended to strengthen the skin, bones and immune system.
The Hermitage of Sant Llorenç is already restored
Cullera is the ultimate turistic area of Valencia and the local council has decided to rehabilitate various hermitages. Now, from Casa Rocher we can tell that the restoting of the hermitage of Sant Llorenç is already completed in the Dosel de Cullera area.
With these work Cullera aim is to provide alternative routes for visitors. Moreover, the municipality is expecting to become the welcoming chapel for tourists who visit the Albufera Natural Park.
The hermitage of Sant Llorenç dates from the 16th Century and inside you can see a Baroque altarpiece, municipal property, but the oratory is still owned by the parish of St. Vincent Martir.
Boat Ride in the Albufera
One of the excursions or visits required for visitors of Valencia,apart of enjoying an excellent rice, is to take a boat ride on the large Albufera of Valencia.

Discover the secrets of Cullera’s Rice
In Casa Rocher we are experts in rice since 50 years ago, so we want to encourage you to discover the secrets of this valencian product , the rice.
Until the 31st of August, thanks to the councils of Tourism and Heritage and to the Museums of Cullera’s City Council, you can participate in the cultural activity called “Discover the secrets of rice.” This initiative, aimed to families, focuses on rice culture, tradition and customs.
It consists of a visit to Cullera’s Rice Museum and performance of various workshops, the price is of 5 euros per family. You can enjoy this activity every Thursday in July and August from 18.30 to 20.00 hours. Without doubt it will be a visit or memorable familiar excursion.

The Stars of Rice in III Cullera Competition
The third competition of variety of rice dishes of Cullera’s City began last 14th of June, with the conclusion of the first contest of novice gourmet chefs.
The event hosted different activities wherw the focus was the promotion and dissemination of local gastronomic tourism, products and professionals. Last Tuesday 15th of June the restaurant participated actively with the presence of Paco Rocher in the cooking show held.
The Stars of Rice is the name of this Gourmet show involving important chefs of our community and where they conducted a cooking demonstration.
Paco Rocher prepared an all i pebrat rice, with eel and fish elver and rice with octopus, stingray, shrimp of Cullera and vegetables.
All participants highlighted both the quality of the ingredients and the excellent outcome of the dishes prepared by our restaurant, which once again demonstrated its commitment to the culinary industry events in our community.
Paco Rocher in the III Competition Rice Variety of Cullera City.
Starting next Monday, 14th of June and for two days in the town of Cullera will be held the III Contest Variety of Rice City of Cullera.
The competition will start on Monday 14th of June with the celebration of the First Culinary Competition of Novice Chefs with the participation of the leading culinary students throughout the network of vocational training centers of the Valencian Community. The contest has been chosen as the official contest to select the representative of Valencia in the Spanish final of the prestigious international event Spain Skills to be held in Madrid in 2011.
The next day, Tuesday 15th of June, will be held the gastronomic exhibition “The Stars of Rice” a cooking show which will involve some of the best professionals in the valencian kitchen and Jorge Breton (Restaurant La Sucursal), Bernd Knoller (Restaurante Riff), José Luis Anointed (Rte. House in July), Alejandro del Toro (Rte. Alejandro del Toro) and Paco Rocher (Restaurante Casa Rocher) who will prepare two dishes each for the cooking demonstration.
Rocher Paco, will show how to prepare an all i pebrat rice with eel and fish elver. Then he will cook rice with squid, stingray, shrimp of Cullera and vegetables.
Interview with Paco Rocher Father
What was the restaurant at that time?
Well, here was my father and my mother, well and me too. They work together in it. But they died and then I had to be in charge of all.
I married in 1966, we caught the restaurant and we took over all, my parents were very old and could not carry the weight of the restaurant.
Now I have all my children in charge of everything and they are almost three or four years with the restaurant.
How was the restaurant?
The restaurant was much smaller, I had a field in the back of the restaurant and therefore we made it bigger.
The restaurant had 14 or 15 tables and a in a different area was a bar, yes,to eat there were 15 or 16 tables.
How do you cooked?
At that time it was different, we cooked more with the paella container, the allipebres, typical things from Valencia, not working as it works now.
Tell me about L’Albufera?
Before, here in L’Albufera many eels were fished, there were many fishes, all now gone. It was different, we caught a lot more nature than now.
Do they still come customers of that time?
Yes, I still have clients from when I was here, from more than 40 years ago …
Great success in the first gastronomic week
The Rocher Restaurant opened last week to be dedicated to the new dishes at 50th years of the Restaurant. Entrants which highlighted for their creativity and variety of flavors as always is intended to promote the Valencian cuisine.
This week and until the 17th of June, the restaurant of Cullera will continue to offer free tasting and delight you as always with rice, meat and fish presented each day at Casa Rocher Restaurant.
Casa Rocher restaurant is celebrating its 50th Anniversary offering entrees tastings
Casa Rocher Restaurant of the Mareny de Sant Llorenç, Cullera, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the establishment. To celebrate, chef, Paco Rocher, has created five special entrees made with its flagship product, the eel:
-Tartar of smoked eel.
-Fried eel, cured ham, kataifi and salad.
-Ravioli of allipebre.
-Baked eels with spagliolini with cuttlefish ink.
-Espardeña.
Home owners want to commemorate this anniversary of Casa Rocher with all its customers therefore, from Monday 24th of May until 17th of June you can enjoy for free these specialties during lunch or dinner.
The 17th of June will be held the anniversary to which, among others, are invited various personalities of the sector and political offices of the region.
In the event you can enjoy a cocktail with these appetizers with wines of a famous winery and many more surprises to be spent over the afternoon.
